FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS A HYBRID THERAPY PRACTICE?

Seeking therapy with a hybrid practice means that clients may meet with their therapist in person at our office in Matawan, NJ, or via a secure online platform that RPCS provides.

In-person session availability varies by therapist. If working with a therapist in-person is your preference, let us know during your consultation call with our Clinical Director, La Shauna Richardson.

All RPCS therapists offer virtual sessions. Clients will be able to work with their therapist in the privacy of their own homes (or wherever they are most comfortable), utilizing many of the same therapeutic practices that they would in an in-person session.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF A RPCS THERAPIST IS THE RIGHT THERAPIST FOR ME?

A successful therapeutic relationship is influenced by the dynamic between the client and therapist and by ensuring the right match between a client's needs and a therapist's expertise. At RPCS, we utilize a two-phased approach to ensure a client-therapist fit:

  • 15-Minute Consultations - before we commit to working together, potential clients meet with an RPCS therapist via phone to share why they are seeking therapy and assess whether it is a fit with the practice's areas of expertise. If there does not appear to be a fit, RPCS can provide a referral to another practice.

  • Fourth Session Review - No later than your fourth session of therapy, your therapist will check in with you about your experience and desire to continue.  If necessary, RPCS can provide a referral to another practice.

WILL MY HEALTH INSURANCE COVER THERAPY?

RPCS is an in-network provider with Aetna, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ, and United Healthcare (We expect to begin accepting Cigna before the end of Spring 2026).  For all other insurance providers, RPCS provides clients with a superbill that they can use to request reimbursement from their insurance provider, if eligible. RPCS will support clients in seeking reimbursement/submitting the claim, but ultimately, clients are responsible for working with their provider to seek reimbursement. Note that not all providers reimburse for mental health services provided by an out-of-network therapist; clients should confirm reimbursement policies and procedures with their insurance provider before beginning sessions with RPCS.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

For sessions canceled less than 24 hours in advance or if a client fails to show up for a scheduled session, a cancellation fee of $50 will be charged. RPCS will attempt to reschedule canceled appointments, pending availability.
